God’s Hand is in the ‘And’
The church in Acts was on fire for Jesus - having been filled with the Holy Spirit, these Christians were marked by their distinctive lifestyle, and the community grew exponentially. This week, pastor of theology Simon Ponsonby launched our Holy Spirit series, looking at how the early church’s rhythm of life helps us to be fully alive, walking in the power of the Spirit, and working to transform our communities.
Acts 2.42-47
Burning Hot, Not Burned Out - 6pm
We can’t pray come Holy Spirit if we’re not prepared to go with the Holy Spirit. But the Spirit gives us power and boldness and freedom to go where he leads us. Let’s be re-filled with the presence of the Spirit this Pentecost as we walk with integrity in our daily lives.
Anointed to Serve
When we are filled by the Spirit, led by the Spirit, and transformed by the Spirit, our lives will naturally witness to Jesus. This Pentecost, Simon encourages us to be filled by the Spirit, and transformed to be individuals who live wholeheartedly for him.
Acts 1:8 “You will receive power when the Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.”
Perseverance In Times Of Trial And Testing
Daniel’s pattern of consistent prayer prepares him for the biggest trial of his life: the Lion’s den. Mark encourages us to turn to God first in times of testing and trials - prioritising our walk with God and trusting that he will prepare us, equip us and walk with us in the struggles ahead.
The Writing on the Wall
What is God writing on the wall of your life? Simon unpacks Daniel 5, helping us to think about what it looks like to honour God in every area of our lives.
Increase Your Integrity
To have integrity means to have an undivided life. How can we increase our integrity in order to face difficult situations in our lives with courage and confidence? Looking at Daniel 3, Stephen encourages us to draw close to Jesus, our ultimate source of strength, in times of challenge.
Trusting, trusting...one, two, three
How can we be resilient disciples of Jesus in a complex world? Laura kicks off our new series "Bold Identity" looking at the book of Daniel and the lessons we can learn from his unwavering trust in God in the midst of the pressures of life.
Don’t Waste Your Failure
When Peter denied Jesus three times, no one could have predicted it. When Jesus calls us to follow him, he already knows our greatest weaknesses and failures, but he calls us anyway. In this sermon, Stephen encourages us that Jesus’ purpose for your life is not dependent on your perfect performance.
The Road To Emmaus
After Jesus rose from the dead, he walked to Emmaus with two-little known individuals, and revealed himself as their Messiah. Their journey reveals that Jesus wants to reveal himself to us, as we are, and changes us for the long-haul.
God’s Champagne Moment
The best news the world has ever heard, came from an empty tomb. Simon explains why Easter is a reason to uncork the Champagne: our sins are forgiven through the cross, death is defeated through the resurrection, and Jesus is revealed as Lord of all.
Why is Easter Good News?
“He has risen, just as he said” - those seven words changed everything. On Easter Sunday, Stephen explains why Jesus’ resurrection is life-changing for all of us.
Matthew 28:1-10
Faithful To Love In An Unfaithful World
What do we do when life turns dark? Looking to Jesus’ final interactions with his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane, Mark encourages us to remain faithful to the one who never abandons us.
John 18:1-14
Pressed In The Garden
"Not for an hour of activity did Jesus plead, but for an hour of companionship" - Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Simon Ponsonby invites us to reflect on the events at the Garden of Gethsemane, and to be amazed at Jesus' determination to save and restore humanity through his sacrifice.
