discipleship.

Following Jesus’ example of making lifelong disciples.

Our heart at St Aldates is to see people not only come to know Jesus, but to go ever deeper in their walk with him. If you’re a new follower of Jesus, still seeking and asking questions or you’ve been a Christian for years, none of us were ever meant to walk this journey alone.

We have two discipleship pathways, Good Ground and Break Ground, which run each term. Our aim is to support your discipleship growth, wherever you are in your relationship with Jesus.

Recently come to faith or exploring faith? Or wanting to put what you’ve discovered at Alpha into practice?

Good Ground is a space for honest conversations, having fun with others, and learning simple practices to draw you closer to God.

You and your group will meet together on a weekday evening over nine weeks. Your mentors will guide each of you personally, as well as together as a group. There’s also a Ministry Morning where you can meet God, and be prayed for by our prayer ministry team.

‘Good Ground brought me incredibly close to Jesus. The closest I’ve been. It is 100% worth it. It allowed me to focus my mind, focus my faith’.

Our next Good Ground course:

To find out more about Good Ground, please sign up to the Welcome Evening for both pathways on Tuesday 4th February, 7.30-9.30pm, in the Christopher Room, 40 Pembroke Street, OX1 1BP.

Groups will begin meeting on assigned evenings in the following week of Monday 10th February, running weekly for nine weeks, ending in the week beginning 7th April.

Hungry to be challenged and grow in spiritual maturity? To go deeper as a follower of Jesus?

This pathway for mature believers is designed to break up the 'unploughed ground' in your life. It aims to plant new seeds, producing fresh growth in your walk with God.

You and your group will meet together on a weekday evening over nine weeks. Together you will share your faith journeys in response to a discipleship book, and explore practices to draw you closer to God. Your mentors are dedicated to guiding you personally as well as together as a group. There’s also a Ministry Morning where you can bring any current goals or struggles into focus, meet God, and receive personal prayer ministry.

‘Break Ground is about being intentional, being in community with others, and being expectant what for what the Lord will do. It has genuinely been life-transforming for me. And, by God’s grace, it will be for you too.’
